VAN MAHOTSAV CELEBRATION AT LORETO ENGLISH MEDIUM HIGH SCHOOL CBSE, LORETO BANTWAL

When we plant a tree, we are not just adding life to the world, we are adding hope for the future of our planet.

Loreto: Loreto English Medium High School CBSE celebrated Van Mahotsav, the festival of forests, with a spirit of awareness and commitment towards nature. The celebration highlighted the significance of tree plantation, conservation, and sustainability in protecting our environment and ensuring a greener future. The programme was graced by the presence of the School Manager Fr. Francis Crasta, Chief Guest Mr. Joe Pradeep Dsouza, Senior Assistant Director of Horticulture, Bantwal, School Principal Fr. Jason Vijay Monis, and Vice Principal Mrs. Anitha Pais.

The celebration began with a prayer by the school choir. The programme was inaugurated by planting saplings by the dignitaries. On account of Van Mahotsav, the school had conducted various competitions for the students, and the winners were honored during the celebration. The Chief Guest Mr. Joe Pradeep Dsouza distributed the awards and in his address, highlighted the significance of Van Mahotsav as a national initiative to promote greenery. He spoke about the government schemes encouraging afforestation and urged students to grow spice and aromatic plants at home. 

The school took the opportunity to honour the Spell Bee achievers who brought pride to the institution.

Prina Jaisal Dsouza of Grade 7 secured 18th rank and 1st rank in the district in the National Mega Final of Wiz International Spell Bee 2024-25. Leana Gia Dsouza of Grade 3rd secured 64th rank and Slaina Noronha of Grade 4 achieved 76th rank.

School Manager Fr. Francis Crasta, in his address, spoke about the importance of plants stating, “Plants give us fresh air, cool our eyes, and provide us food. If you love plants, they will love you back. He stressed on three key words: Plantation, Preservation, and Conservation, encouraging everyone to be active guardians of nature.

The Eco Club students presented a vibrant cultural programme including songs and dances, featuring meaningful words and flexes related to Van Mahotsav and the importance of protecting the environment.

The event was compered by Master Johan and Chahna  from Grade 10. The welcome address delivered by Vaagmi, the vote of thanks  was proposed by Adel from Grade 7.
