The students of Loreto English Medium High School, CBSE, visited the Vijay Karnataka Printing Press at Baikampadi on 2nd September 2025 as part of an educational trip. The visit was organized to give students practical knowledge about the printing process and to understand how newspapers and magazines are produced.
The manager, Mr. Alwyn Pinto, along with other staff members of the press guided the students through different sections and explained each stage of work in detail. The visit began at the CTP (Computer to Plate) room, where the layout of the newspaper is prepared before being sent for printing. They explained the use of the four basic printing colours Cyan, yellow, magenta, and black and how these combine to produce full-colour images.
The students were then shown the high-speed offset printing machines. Mr. Pinto explained how paper rolls are loaded into the machine, how quickly the newspapers are printed, and the checks done to ensure accuracy and quality. The students also learned about the different types of paper used thinner sheets for newspapers and thicker ones for magazines.
The entire process, from layout design to printing and binding, gave students a clear picture of the effort, coordination, and technology that goes into bringing out a daily newspaper. The practical exposure helped them understand how teamwork and time management play an important role in the printing industry.
The visit was conducted under the guidance of Principal Fr. Jason Vijay Monis and Science teacher Mrs. Jayashree, who accompanied the students throughout and encouraged them to observe and learn.
