A special awareness session on Conflict Resolution was conducted for the Grade 6 students of Loreto English Medium High School, Loreto, on 21 November 2025. The session, led by the school counsellor Mrs. Maria Mildred Dsouza, aimed to help students understand conflicts, manage disagreements positively, and foster emotional well-being.
The session began with a short educational video depicting real-life situations where conflicts commonly arise among children. This activity helped students relate to everyday scenarios and recognize the emotional impact of unresolved issues.
Mrs. Dsouza then explained the different types of conflicts and highlighted how unresolved disagreements can lead to stress, anxiety, reduced concentration, anger, and strained relationships. Practical examples from school life made these concepts easier for students to grasp.
Students were also introduced to valuable strategies such as calm communication, active listening, respectful expression of feelings, and seeking guidance from trusted adults.
The session was highly interactive and engaging, with students actively sharing their thoughts and learning constructive ways to handle disagreements. The program concluded with an emphasis on peaceful conflict resolution, encouraging personal growth and promoting a healthier, more harmonious school environment.
